Pissed myself reading their forum, some of them genuinely believe we’re not a bigger club than them ffs 🤣 Did we sound that sad and pathetic when Roberto left us for Wigan?

Many did, yes.

I know a few took it very personal when Roberto left. At the end of the day, that’s football. A couple comments there saying he should have had 1 more season and got them up, then he’d have a bigger club than us come in for him, but it’s not always that easy, he could have stayed, had a bad start to the season and got sacked, then he’s stuck managing in league 1 or 2 with no interest in him above league 1 level.

I’ve seen a lot of discussions on this move and majority have said it’s a good move for both club and manager. Apart from Barnsley fans which you’d expect. But oddly also seen Plymouth fans mentioning that it’s a strange move as club is regressing, sideways step and that he should stay put. Seems like they’ve developed a strange obsession since the Whittaker debacle and when their manager ‘turned us down’.

Are we bigger than Barnsley.. probably on a par

Yes if you judge by attendances - we average 5000 more per home game.

Yes if you look at our Prem and Ch history.

Fans love this “bigger club” thing and none more than our cousins from the east.

It’s a way of fans trying to reassure themselves that someday the league table will reflect the size of the clubs in it precisely.

The real world doesn’t work like that though. There are always clubs punching above their weight and so called bigger clubs struggling through poor ownership, bad decision making etc. We ruffled the feathers of the big boys for a few years as did Wigan and now clubs like Brentford are doing it. Meanwhile, big clubs like Sunderland and Sheffield Wednesday languish in lower divisions.

I’d rather support a better club than a “bigger club”.

Funny Barnsley fans stating we have zero history. At least some of them thought it was a bizarre comment
