It was Murray Bennett. A veteran of three Test matches during which he took six wickets at 54 and scored 71 runs at 23. He also played eight ODIs in which his record was even worse.
Great Uncle of Ryan Bennett

Another little known fact

Re: Commonwealth Games Closing Ceremony

Certainly enjoyed these games more than I can remember enjoying a Commonwealth Games beforehand

Fair play to the Beeb for their coverage too

Terry Alderman?
Nope. Didn’t play. I doubt you’ll get it to be honest I’d almost forgotten this bloke existed and I was obssseed with cricket back then. Still am really. He’s so unknown he’s probably forgotten he exists.
Lawson? Trying to think of bowlers fromback in the day

409/3 off 91 overs. And that was a proper first class match. Terrible Australia team that year mind. Even 1985 England hammered them.
I'm sure Craig McDermott opened the bowling for the Aussies that day.
And Jeff Thomson was in the side.

Re: Glamorgan Cricket Fans

One of my favourite days ever watching Glammy was at the Gnoll against the Australians in 1985 (I think) Javed Miandad scored 200, Younis Ahmed 100-odd, Glammy knocked up 400 in a day for maybe 3 (I think again) And halfway through the day we were watching around the nets as some of the Glammy play...

Re: Glamorgan Cricket Fans

That’s excellent news for Neath. The Gnoll always used to be a great place to watch cricket. No idea what’s it’s like there now but I might go to one of these games. If I’m being pedantic though (and I will be cos that’s how I roll) two limited overs games does not constitute first class cricket. F...

Wolves want 50M, they turned down 25M upfront plus 17M in add ons
£50m for a player who has made 14 Premier League starts and scored 1 goal.

Anyone who pays that is asking for longer term problems. IMO.

Re: Carabao Cup - 1st Round

In many ways, much simpler times. In other ways, not so much Different expectations. Or not many really. Football has changed, knocking out Doncaster away to draw Arsenal at the Vetch. Now how many times have we played them. Different views to games now. We've achieved so much, but so much bad tast...

So my memory still there then. Again at both the away games. The second one was the replay and we were destroyed.
