Despite the fanfare of the announcement by Samsunspor of Olivier Ntcham earlier this week he is still a Swansea City player.
That was confirmed by Swans boss Michael Duff yesterday who, despite Ntcham still being registered at the club, doesn’t expect to see the player again in SA1.
In a bizarre seven days for the Cameroon International, he refused to be a part of the match day squad against Birmingham amidst the rumours of a move and was then paraded on social media by Samsunspor midweek.
It’s clear there’s some way to go before a deal is done between the two clubs and with the player’s “new club” playing Sunday all eyes will be on Turkey as to whether the situation will be resolved before then.
What is fast becoming clear is that any talk of £2-3m being the fee for Ntcham is fantasy and by the fact it is taking this long suggests the club will need to accept a deal and move on from a player who was understood to be the highest earner during his time in South Wales.
Ntcham scored 12 times in his two seasons at the club and played quite a significant role in pre season but Charlie Patino looks to be the direct replacement once his loan deal is confirmed today.
Duff said yesterday: “It’s between the two clubs, I’m not expecting to see Olivier again.
“But he’s definitely not signed for them yet. So it’s between the two clubs and they need to come to an agreement.
“As much as the player might say or they’ve said he’s signed, as far as I’m aware he hasn’t signed.
“Am I expecting to see him again? No.”
Be amazed to see Ntcham again especially after him pulling out of Birmingham game and Duff’s comments in the press conference
Get what we can for him, and move on.
I don’t know what his contract with Swans says but if you’re not willing to put on the shirt, practice, and play, then do the Swans have to pay him? I’d let him sit and keep demanding that either the interested club pay the fee or the player return to training, of course away from the squad.
