Swans reported interest in Everton and Brighton players

There may be still a week left in the main season for the Swans but already attention has turned to the transfer window which opens next month and has to be better than the one we saw unfold in January.

That window saw the club fail to strengthen their squad during the month long period, a month that has attracted more than its fair share of criticism as a direct result.

Reports on the weekend of a move for Luton COO Paul Watson as a Sporting Director is designed to change some of that but – as you would imagine – the Swans are already looking at a list of potential targets as they look to strengthen the squad that is likely to see some significant departures this summer.

The first of those targets is said to be Everton striker Tom Cannon.ย  Cannon has been a strong addition to the Preston side on loan this season and the Lilywhites are reported to be wanting to bring him back to Deepdale next season.ย  ย However, there are reports that suggest the Swans could make a move for a permanent signing should Joel Piroe move on this summer, something which is widely expected to happen.

Preston boss Ryan Lowe has already admitted that he would like Cannon to return but there is nothing more than the speculation from the Swans although it is clear to see why they may be interested in this move.

The other link is Brighton midfielder Andrew Moran who is also a rumoured target for Blackburn and Stoke.ย  ย Moran was once described by an academy director at Brighton as “The Irish Phil Foden” and is expected to leave the Amex Stadium next season with first team opportunities limited at the moment and Brighton keen to see him develop further.

As with most loan moves this one will be a very slow burn as they tend to happen in the latter stages of the window but a season long loan for Moran is being tipped as being a good move for most Championship clubs with the Swans one of those linked at present.

As with all rumours at this stage of the window they should be treated with a pinch of salt maybe even more so given our recent records in the transfer market…

  1. As usual at this time in the season lots of discussion about players leaving and players signing. It just seems that compared to three months ago weโ€™re in a strong place .The firsts havenโ€™t lost for nine games ,the system we play is better and โ€˜saferโ€™ and some of the players like Wood and Cabango are looking so good at this level .Add to that the success of the u 18 and u 21 who have just beaten Wigan and Burnley this weekend and things are really looking up.
โ€œAll โ€œ we need now are the owners to work out a strong ,consistent policy so that we can sustain what weโ€™ve achieved and go up a level .We all wait with bated breath.
