Kompany – That was harder than Man Utd

Burnley boss Vincent Kompany is glowing in his praise of the Swans yesterday as they took all three points back to Turf Moor yesterday thanks to two early Ian Maatsen goals.

The former Man City captain believes that in many ways the Swans offered a tougher test than Manchester United who the Clarets played in the EFL Cup a couple of weeks ago.

And whilst it’s always easier to praise the opposition after a win perhaps Kompany’s comments provide a little positivity for fans after a run of one win in 10.

The Swans are four points off the play-offs after that run of form but Kompany says they have every chance of challenging come the end of rhe season.

โ€œI knew this was going to be a difficult game. There was more aggression in their game and you could see they were a team putting up a real fight,โ€ he said.

โ€œThey were together. They have always been a great side for me and I love watching them. There isnโ€™t a single team in the league, not even us, who can manipulate the ball like they do.

โ€œWe went to Old Trafford and pressed and we found it more difficult in the first half here.

โ€œOn the other side of things, when they were aggressive like they were in this game they look very complete to me. We have got a team that is doing well and so we love the challenge.

โ€œIt has certainly been one of the hardest games of the season for us.

โ€œWhen I see there are only five points between 16th and the play-offs, who knows what could happen.

โ€œI just feel that when I watch them play they are doing a lot right. Eventually it is about keeping the ball out of your net and putting it in the net, so we will see.โ€
