The day the transfer window really started

Deals with Lincoln City, MK Dons and Peterborough United saw transfer activity really start at Swansea yesterday along with some customary links of new players as Steven Benda departed for a loan deal elsewhere and it was reported that Liam Cullen was to join Lincoln.

On the same day the club confirmed the capture of Andy Fisher from MK Dons to signal our first incoming transfer of the window and moved us a step closer to Russell Martin accumulating a squad of his own making rather than one he inherited from others.

Liam Cullen was said to be joining Lincoln and Steven Benda to Peterborough on an afternoon of loans out of the club with both hopefully going to secure some first team football on their exits – Cullen joining up with Morgan Whittaker at Lincoln after the latter’s impressive debut for the Imps last Saturday.

The customary interviews were complete with Swans new signing Andy Fisher declaring “I am delighted the move is done, it is something that has been talked about for a while but it is finally sealed and done and walking in here has been unbelievable.

“The people here have given me such a warm welcome, all the staff, and I cannot wait to get started.

“It’s an opportunity to play Championship football, but also I worked with the gaffer at MK Dons and the style of football he wants to play is just fantastic.”

Fisher is expected to go straight into the starting line up for the Swans this weekend at Huddersfield with Ben Hamer dropping to the bench whilst Cullen is likely to also be in the Lincoln squad for the weekend given the fitness issues they have at the moment.

Certainly by far the busiest day in the window for the Swans this time around and with our departures now up to three in this window plenty of opportunity to bring in some of those targets that have been linked.
