Injury boost for Wilder ahead of Swans visit

Chris Wilder, the new Middlesbrough boss, has been handed a double injury boost ahead of the Swans visit this weekend with both Dael Fry and Martin Payero looking like they will be fit for our visit to the Riverside Stadium.

Wilder – the former Sheffield United manager – was taking part in his press conference ahead of the game tomorrow whichย  sees 12th placed Middlesbrough welcome the 9th placed Swans.

Wilder though added that neither player was guaranteed a start tomorrow before placing some praise on former Cardiff City captain Sol Bamba for his recent strong performances for the home side

“Dael and Martin Payero we will check on again today but they have come through the week unscathed so that gives us a lot stronger look and feel compared to the last couple of weeks,” said Wilder.

Dael has a fight on his hands to get back into the team, and no matter who you are or what youโ€™ve done, it has to be difficult to get back into that side.

โ€œIโ€™m sure Sol will make it that way, or whatever position Dael can play, because he can play right or left of a three as well.

โ€œSo yet again, weโ€™ve got another good player back fit and healthy.โ€

Wilder also recognised the challenge that the Swans will pose for his team and asked for his players to keep their concentration accepting that the Swans were likely to dominate possession

“With a new manager this season they will provide a different challenge for us on Saturday afternoon as they like to dominate the ball and we have to be mindful and not be phased by that.

“Swansea are a good side with some good technical players and they pass the ball about the pitch well.ย  ย It is important though that we impose ourselves on them and dominate in our own way.

“I will be looking for a good team performance on Saturday and hopefully send the supporters home happy again.”
