Jody Morris leading the way in manager chase

In amongst all the speculation and guesswork, it continues to look as if Jody Morris is increasingly likely to be the man that the Swans turn towards as they look to end a managerial hunt that has been elongated due to certain approaches being rejected.

Sources close to the club have told us that Morris is now the man leading the way and the club would like to have him appointed within the next 24-48 hours although it is also understood – from the same sources – that other names remain in the frame for those who occupy the seats of power at the Liberty should talks with Morris not reach a conclusion.

Morris was first linked with the role last weekend when the Swans found the first rejection from John Eustace but he fell behind in the race to Russell Morris who, although still on the Swans list, is opting to stay at MK Dons and our source tells us that his stance is unlikely to change unless the Swans viewpoint and potential offer changes dramatically.  This is believed to be an unlikely change so whilst not ruling out Martin it is certainly a very unlikely move.

Other names such as Cameron Toshack have been briefly considered but are not thought to be in the running but whilst Morris is definitely currently the choice that the Swans are progressing towards we are led to believe that it is not yet a done deal that the former Chelsea midfielder will take the hot seat at the Liberty.

Morris has, of course, been out of work since leaving Chelsea along with Frank Lampard back in January and is known to be keen to get into a managerial role of his own.  It is understood that the opportunity to be at Swansea is one that interests him but, at the time of writing, club and potential manager have not reached any agreement.

The Swans though, having been burnt by both Eustace and Martin, are keen to ensure that they have a potential fuller list should they be unable to reach agreement with Morris and there very much is believed to be a reserve list should this be needed with a view to still progressing to a swift conclusion to the managerial search.

Despite all that though Jody Morris is the man leading the way at the moment and, if all goes to plan, is looking like the man tasked with following the Steve Cooper reign.

  1. Whoever it is, they need to get a shift on. No-one is going to sign for a managerless club and god knows what the effect is on the squad.

  2. Russel Morris interview this morning.he was asked about the Swansea job.he answered there has been no contact from Swansea.I did hear Swansea were about to sign Gareth bale to replace woodman.
