Reports say Swans approach MK Dons for Martin

Reports this evening say that the Swans have approached MK Dons for the chance to speak to their manager Russell Martin as they look to bring to a close their managerial search.

With the name of Jody Morris seemingly still in the frame it now seems to be a two horse race to replace Steve Cooper who left the club after two years last week.

Original first choice John Eustace turned down the Swans at the weekend, opting to stay at QPR and forcing the Swans to think again for their next move.

Martin took over at MK in November 2019 after the sacking of Paul Tisdale and managed to inspire an upturn in results that saw them avoid relegation that season.

Martin presided over a 13th-placed finish last season and the former Scotland international is highly thought of in coaching circles and seen as someone with a big future.

  1. I really hope something comes of this. I love the manโ€™s philosophy and Iโ€™d prefer to finish 13th in the league and watch exciting, attractive football than endure a more pragmatic and often boring โ€˜result drivenโ€™ game. I believe the beautiful game and results CAN come – because we have seen it here at Swansea- but it needs patience.
I wonder how the guy who sits behind me at the Liberty would take the appointment of Martin? He spends the entire game shouting โ€œRrrrrubbish, rrrrubbish, boot it up the field, mun.โ€
But, the omens are good – Russell Martin, Roberto Martinez = RM โ€ฆ. Russello Martinez
The only question I have, is โ€ฆ. Does he wear brown shoes?

Been watching the Swans since the very late 1970s and running the Planet Swans website (in all its current and previous guises since the summer of 2001 As it stood JackArmy.net was right at the forefront of some of the activity against Tony Petty back in 2001, breaking many of the stories of the day as fans stood against the actions where the local media failed. Was involved with the Swans Supporters Trust from 2005, for the large part as Chairman before standing down in the summer of 2020.
