Ladies look to return to the top

Swansea City ladies are back in action tomorrow afternoon looking to regain top spot that was taken away from them on goal difference on Thursday evening when Cardiff Met beat Port Talbot 4-0.

The two sides have been neck and neck for most of the season with ultimately the only difference between them dating back to the Swans win over their closest rivals before the lockdown at Christmas.

Since then the two sides have met in a draw and have traded top spot between them largely due to the scheduling of the fixtures rather than any side losing or gaining an advantage.

The Swans will regain top spot tomorrow if they can beat Abergavenny and already know that just seven points will be enough for them to retain the title but to regain it with an unbeaten season whilst any slip from Cardiff Met in their two remaining games will surely hand the title back to the Swans.

Stacey John-Davis was last week’s hat-trick hero and she knows what is needed to secure the title having taken her tally to 12 with her triple strike.

โ€œIf we keep winning, we know where we will finish and, right now, the focus is on getting the three points every week,” she said

โ€œWe know not to panic and as long as we get the three points we are happy and the more goals that go in is just a bonus.

โ€œItโ€™s great and at the end of the day we know what we have to do.”

The Swans go into the game with a slight worse goal difference than Cardiff Met but remaining favourites to secure the title and with just one goal conceded in 13 games to date this season it is difficult to see the title slipping from our grasp but the professionalism of the team will shine through.
