Stoke City join Rangers, Cardiff City and Swans in striker chase

I love the end of the season as the opening of the transfer window is in sight and transfer rumours come in thick and fast, many of them started by agents, some of them just simply made up but each of them deemed somewhere along the line to be an exclusive.

The Swans are already linked with at least five moves this summer at a time when we have no idea what next season’s transfer budget is.ย  ย Win the play offs and we have a budget that is unrecognisable from the one that a season in the Championship will be.

But that doesn’t stop the rumours coming thick and fast and it seems – somewhat strangely – that every player that interests us also seems to create an interest for both Cardiff City (not unusual) and the Champions of Scotland in Glasgow Rangers.

I’m not sure that Rangers would be looking at the same players that the Swans would be which tells you all you need to know about transfer rumours and how they start but we are here to report the rumours as they are reported elsewhere so report them we do.

The latest target for the Swans is rumoured to be 33-goal striker Jonson Clarke-Harris who has been on sparkling form for Peterborough this season as they won promotion back to the Championship.

Now that in itself seems a logical transfer link but when you then consider that the fee is reported to be in the region of ยฃ7m-ยฃ8m then you can probably rule out a Swansea side who would not seem likely to be in the market for that kind of fee even if we did gain promotion in three weeks time.

There is little doubt that the striker will be hot property but at the fee quoted (and the Peterborough owner claims that to be a bargain fee) it will be a fee that I think will totally keep us out of the market given the finances at the club even if we do get promoted.

File for me under non starter.

Been watching the Swans since the very late 1970s and running the Planet Swans website (in all its current and previous guises since the summer of 2001 As it stood JackArmy.net was right at the forefront of some of the activity against Tony Petty back in 2001, breaking many of the stories of the day as fans stood against the actions where the local media failed. Was involved with the Swans Supporters Trust from 2005, for the large part as Chairman before standing down in the summer of 2020.
