Middlesbrough hit with club fine after Swansea loss

Middlesbrough have also been hit with a club fine following last week’s fine for manager Neil Warnock for their conduct following the defeat to Swansea at the Liberty a few weeks back.

Boro’s players and managers were incensed by what they felt was a series of poor refereeing decisions that cost them what they believed was a legitimate equaliser and also the award of a stoppage time penalty for the Swans.

Their players surrounded the officials on several occasions as well as at the final whistle where they were joined by the ever happy Neil Warnock who last week received his own fine of ยฃ7,000 for his part in the protests.

A statement released on the Middlesbrough official site this afternoon read

Middlesbrough FC has been fined ยฃ10,000 and warned as to its future conduct following a charge for a breach of FA Rule E20.

The club denied failing to ensure that its players and/or club officials conducted themselves in an orderly fashion following the final whistle of an EFL Championship match against Swansea City AFC on Saturday 6 March 2021.

An independent Regulatory Commission found the charge proven during a subsequent hearing and imposed this sanction.

  1. Middlesbrough are luck that the fine was only ยฃ10,000 and Mr Warnock just ยฃ7,000, for the aggressive behaviour shown towards the Referee, the fine could easily have been at least doubled
